The rebranding aims to clarify the association’s function to policymakers and the broader public. While the organization maintains its focus on advocacy, research, and professional networking, leadership noted that the previous acronym-based name often required explanation regarding the breadth of the industry it serves. Today, the membership encompasses developers of data centers, logistics hubs, and multifamily housing, extending well beyond traditional office space.
"While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: advancing commercial real estate development through advocacy, research, education and connections," said Celeste Tanner, the 2026 association chair and president of Confluent Development. The organization, which was founded in 1967, currently operates through 55 chapters. President and CEO Marc Selvitelli emphasized that the new branding reflects the critical role members play in building the physical and digital infrastructure required for modern economic growth.
