Lizzo Confronts Personal Toll of Recent Album Struggles

“I’m weeping on the floor; nobody knows what I’ve been going through privately,” singer Lizzo wrote in an emotional post to her followers this week. The 38-year-old artist described her recent professional setbacks as an exhausting roller coaster, even as she attempts to maintain a public stance of resilience and victory.

The candid admission follows the underwhelming commercial performance of her latest album, B-TCH, which failed to chart on the Billboard 200. Reports indicate the record moved fewer than 3,000 copies in its opening week, with sales dipping to 650 in the second. Lizzo, born Melissa Jefferson, previously expressed frustration regarding the project's rollout, claiming her label, Atlantic, provided insufficient marketing support and accusing TikTok of suppressing her promotional content.

Despite the professional friction, the Detroit native is focusing on personal milestones to balance the narrative. Her 2022 hit, “About Damn Time,” recently surpassed 1 billion streams, a figure she highlighted as a point of pride. Looking ahead, the singer is preparing to shift her focus toward literature with the September 2026 release of her children’s book, Lil Lizzo Meets Sasha B. Flootin’. She described the project as an extension of her core message of self-belief, noting that creativity served as her own sanctuary during her youth.
