Menta Education Group Expands Executive Suite with Dual Appointments

Following a search led by Stanton Chase, the Aurora-based Menta Education Group has appointed Allison M. Porterfield-Woods as its inaugural Chief Information Officer and Mathew T. Varghese as Chief Human Resources Officer, signaling a strategic push to scale the organization’s operations across its 40-school network.

Porterfield-Woods joins the special education provider with over 25 years of technology experience, most recently serving as CIO at the College of Lake County. Her mandate at Menta centers on modernizing enterprise-wide infrastructure, which includes auditing the current student information system and fortifying cybersecurity protocols. Her previous decade-long tenure at Northwestern University focused on large-scale systems transformation, a background Menta expects will be instrumental in stabilizing its multi-state footprint.

Simultaneously, Mathew T. Varghese takes the helm of the human resources department after a high-growth stint as Chief People Officer at agilon health Inc. During his time there, he oversaw a workforce expansion that accompanied a revenue climb from $1.7 billion to $6 billion. At Menta, Varghese is tasked with centralizing HR functions, including standardizing talent acquisition and compensation practices across Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, and Texas. CEO Rory Conran stated that both leaders were chosen to build the operational architecture necessary to support the group's mission as it moves beyond its 1973 founding roots to serve a growing population of students with behavioral and academic disabilities.
