Damon, 55, arrived in South Korea on August 1 for a four-night tour. His appearance at the Saturday matchup between the Kiwoom Heroes and the SSG Landers was facilitated by a personal connection to Kiwoom slugger Matt Davidson. During a press conference held at the Four Seasons Hotel on August 3, the actor admitted he was captivated by the unique energy of Korean sports culture, specifically noting the distinct, organized cheering styles of local fans that contrast sharply with the atmosphere at games in the United States.
The actor was joined by director Christopher Nolan, producer Emma Thomas, and co-star Charlize Theron. While Damon prioritized baseball, Nolan spent his downtime exploring the traditional hanok houses of the Ikseon-dong neighborhood. This visit marks Damon’s first return to the country since 2016. The promotional tour continues through August 5, with scheduled appearances on local television programs, including You Quiz on the Block, and a red-carpet event at Yeongdeungpo Times Square.
