Dr. Bill Winston, founder of the Living Word Christian Center, announced the change during worship services on July 26. He framed the closure not as a reduction in service, but as a deliberate commitment to the store’s core values. The supermarket, a central anchor of the Forest Park Plaza at 7520 Roosevelt Road, will maintain its daily hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. throughout the rest of the week.
Melody Winston, senior executive at the market, emphasized that the move is an investment in staff well-being. By reserving Sundays, the organization aims to ensure team members have consistent time for family and personal rest, which leadership believes will enhance the quality of service provided to the community during the remaining six days. Despite the schedule adjustment, the store maintains its existing community programming, including the 15 percent discount offered on Super Tuesdays and ongoing support for local vendors and educational initiatives.
