Morphic Medical Reshuffles Board Amid European Expansion

Following the CE Mark approval of its flagship diabetes treatment, Boston-based Morphic Medical has overhauled its leadership team. The company appointed Dr. Terri Cooper as Chair of the Board and added Craig Richardson as a non-executive director to spearhead efforts in international market access and health economics.

Dr. Cooper takes the helm at a critical juncture for the developer of RESET, an endoscopic therapy targeting the root causes of type 2 diabetes and obesity. Her mandate focuses on steering the company through its next phase of corporate growth and long-term value creation. She succeeds Mark Lerdal, who departs the board after a tenure marked by the firm's transition from clinical development to commercialization in the EU and UK.

Craig Richardson joins the board with a background in health economics and reimbursement strategy. His primary objective is to build the clinical evidence required to secure broader coverage from international payers and healthcare systems. CEO Mike Gutteridge stated that these appointments are intended to reinforce the company’s commercial strategy as it prepares for further international expansion. The firm, founded in 2003, continues to position its non-surgical device as a viable alternative for patients struggling with morbid obesity and cardiometabolic risks.
