The transaction is expected to finalize by the end of the calendar year, though financial terms remain undisclosed. This move bolsters Royal Mail’s existing network of 30,000 parcel points, which already includes a mix of parcel shops, postboxes, and proprietary lockers. By integrating Quadient’s assets, the company seeks to reinforce its position against major sector rivals such as InPost, Amazon, and YEEP!.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail noted that the acquisition is a strategic step toward providing greater flexibility for consumers who increasingly prefer self-service options for managing their deliveries. The move follows Quadient’s recent push to expand its footprint through partnerships, including a significant rollout with James Hall & Co. to place lockers within SPAR retail locations across the North of England. Globally, Quadient continues to scale its operations, with over 28,200 units currently installed and a target of 40,000 lockers by 2030.
