The core of the issue lies in the business models of modern review sites. Many platforms rely on advertising revenue, which incentivizes high traffic volumes and often permits non-customers to influence ratings. A recent analysis by SEO Bandwagon highlights the resulting inflation, where two-thirds of Google business profiles hold at least a 4.5-star rating, leaving consumers to navigate a sea of potentially misleading data.
In contrast, the Diamond Certified approach mandates a 12-step verification process. Companies must pay a rating fee regardless of the outcome, but the final certification is strictly merit-based. To qualify, a business must achieve a customer satisfaction score of 90 or higher on a 100-point scale for quality and expertise, alongside rigorous credentials checks. According to founder and CEO Greg Louie, this barrier is intentionally high to ensure that status remains an earned distinction rather than a purchased one. Beyond initial qualification, companies are subject to ongoing performance monitoring and must maintain their standards to avoid suspension or termination.
