Sidus Space Moves LizzieSat Satellites to SpaceX Bandwagon-6 Mission

Sidus Space will launch its LizzieSat-4 and LizzieSat-5 satellites together on the SpaceX Bandwagon-6 mission, now targeted for April 2027. The shift from a previously scheduled October 2026 launch allows the company to conduct more extensive qualification testing on its Fortis VPX-Maxima platform before the dual-satellite deployment.

The upcoming mission marks a milestone for the Florida-based company, as it represents the first time Sidus will launch satellites directly from the same Space Coast region where they are manufactured. By consolidating the two vehicles onto a single rideshare, Sidus aims to verify the performance of its Fortis platform against a wider array of mission requirements in one test window. COO Patrick Butler noted that this open-architecture approach enables the team to characterize the hardware against diverse interfaces rather than repeating validation efforts for each individual spacecraft.

The mission will place the satellites into a mid-inclination orbit, a change from the sun-synchronous profile originally intended for LizzieSat-5. This trajectory is expected to provide more frequent revisit times over mid-latitude regions. LizzieSat-4 is currently undergoing production and environmental testing, while LizzieSat-5 has already completed vibration trials at Element U.S. Space & Defense in Orlando. Both satellites will carry a suite of payloads, including technology from TNO, Solar MEMS, and Maris-Tech, alongside the Simera Sense HyperScape-100 imager. CEO Carol Craig emphasized that the decision to prioritize ground testing over orbital deployment is intended to ensure high-performance processing capabilities for defense and commercial clients.
