Cook County Treasurer Hosts U.S.-China Friendship Day in Daley Plaza

The celebration, organized by the Greater Chicago Chinese Association of Overseas Chinese and Chinese Americans, begins at 2:30 p.m. with a flag-raising ceremony. The proceedings will shift across the street to the Treasurer’s office at 118 N. Clark Street for a reception at 3:30 p.m. This gathering emphasizes four core objectives: strengthening bilateral friendship, promoting cultural exchange, fostering community integration, and collaborating on future initiatives.

Highlighting the day, the Treasurer will present Certificates of Excellence to fifteen local community leaders. Among the honorees are Jian Fu Wu of Chong Lou Chicago USA, Eddie Ni of the Global Friendship Exchange Foundations, and Jimmy Lee of the Chicago Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. Other recognized figures include representatives from the Association of Chinese American Scientists and Engineers and the Chinese American Association of Greater Chicago. According to the Treasurer, the event serves as a testament to the reality that international ties are forged not only through institutional channels but through the daily contributions of students, families, and business owners.
