Cyware and WaterISAC Partner to Bolster Water Sector Cybersecurity

The collaboration aims to transition the water industry away from manual, fragmented threat reporting toward a unified, automated defense system. By embedding Cyware’s technology, WaterISAC intends to enrich the intelligence it provides to utilities, allowing both small and large providers to neutralize vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. This shift is critical given that water systems are essential for sanitation and fire suppression, and their failure poses an immediate risk to public health.

Tom Stockmeyer, managing director at Cyware, emphasized that effective collective defense requires that a detected threat reaches every participating utility, regardless of their size or internal security resources. For WaterISAC, this partnership serves as a strategic upgrade to its current capabilities. Executive Director Tom Dobbins noted that the organization conducted a rigorous evaluation of available platforms, selecting Cyware to help analysts deliver real-time insights directly to their members. This integration builds upon existing outreach efforts, such as the organization’s work with the National Rural Water Association, to secure the nation's most vulnerable infrastructure points.
