The hospital’s effort builds on a successful track record from the previous season, during which it ranked first in Chicago for vaccinating newborns within 48 hours of birth. Data indicates that 89% of births at Saint Anthony were eligible for the Vaccines for Children Program, significantly outpacing the citywide average of 46%. Dr. Shilpa Singh, Chair of Pediatric Medicine, noted that providing this preventative care extends protection to families and neighbors beyond the hospital’s immediate patient base.

To qualify for the program, patients must be 19 or younger and meet criteria such as lacking insurance, being Medicaid-eligible, or identifying as American Indian or Alaska Native. President and CEO Dorval R. Carter Jr. emphasized that the hospital remains committed to ensuring high-level care for underserved residents. Families may access the vaccines at the Physician Center clinic on West 19th Street or the Archer Clinic on South Archer Avenue.
