In the Phase 2b REZOLVE-AA study for severe alopecia areata, 63% of patients maintained a SALT score of 20 or less six months after stopping treatment. Notably, some participants experienced further hair regrowth during this off-treatment period, with the proportion of patients achieving a SALT score of 10 or less rising to 19%, up from 7% at the end of the 52-week treatment cycle. Dr. David Rosmarin, who presented the findings in Vienna, noted that this level of sustained benefit following treatment cessation remains unseen in existing systemic therapies for the condition.
Parallel data from the REZOLVE-AD study in moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis demonstrated that monthly and quarterly maintenance dosing regimens effectively preserved skin clearance. Patients showed significant improvements in EASI-75 and EASI-90 scores, with researchers observing a marked increase in patients achieving complete skin clearance, or EASI-100, during the maintenance phase. Following these positive results, Nektar Therapeutics is moving forward with its clinical pipeline, having initiated a third Phase 3 study for atopic dermatitis and planning the launch of the ZENITH AA study for alopecia areata in early 2027.
