Medline Campaign Targets Surgical Efficiency to Combat Nurse Burnout

Operating room teams face mounting pressure as high workloads and complex logistical demands contribute to rising burnout rates. Medline EMEA is launching its "10 Minutes That Matter" campaign, aiming to reclaim time for clinical staff by streamlining the preparation of sterile procedure trays in surgical environments.

The initiative focuses on the tangible impact of small operational shifts. Research indicates that transitioning from individual instrument packaging to custom surgical trays can save more than 10 minutes per procedure. By reducing the time spent managing packaging waste and organizing trolleys, hospitals can redirect surgical and circulating nurses' attention toward patient care and complex interventions.

"Small efficiencies can easily be reduced to numbers, but those minutes have real value in the operating theatre," said Michela Toffali, Director of Marketing and Communications at Medline EMEA. The company has distributed over 120 million sterile procedure trays across the region since 2011, working with clinical teams to tailor components to specific medical requirements. Hervé Million, President of Medline EMEA, emphasized that the goal is to look beyond raw metrics to recognize the human necessity of providing clinicians with more space to dedicate their expertise where it is needed most.
