The standard allows issuers to program transfer restrictions, lockup periods, and jurisdictional limits directly into their assets. By integrating with the Solana Attestation Service and trusted identity partners, the system enables investors to reuse verification credentials across multiple issuers. This reduces the administrative friction that has previously hindered the adoption of regulated securities on public ledgers.
According to Metaplex founder Stephen Hess, the infrastructure is designed to maintain Solana’s composability while ensuring adherence to financial regulations. Ilan Gitter of the Solana Foundation noted that the standard consolidates existing primitives into a single tool, sparing issuers from having to build custom compliance frameworks from scratch. Built on Token-2022 and sRFC 37, the protocol ensures that compliance checks do not create significant processing bottlenecks during transactions.
At launch, the standard is supported by key ecosystem players including Jupiter, Orca, Raydium, Phantom, and Solflare. Currently in limited-access alpha, the protocol is positioned to support a broader influx of tokenized securities and private market assets as institutional interest in onchain finance grows.
