Stryker Faces Shareholder Probe Over Persistent Manufacturing Issues

Stryker Corporation shares plummeted 8.8% on September 8, 2026, erasing $10 billion in market value after the company’s CFO disclosed that manufacturing disruptions in its Peripheral Vascular unit remain unresolved. The admission has triggered a formal investigation by Hagens Berman into potential securities law violations and misleading investor disclosures.

The scrutiny centers on whether Stryker executives provided accurate information regarding supply chain obstacles stemming from its February 2025 acquisition of Inari Medical. During its July 30, 2026, earnings call, management characterized the unit's backorder situation as a temporary setback that would be stabilized by the end of the third quarter. CEO Kevin Lobo acknowledged significant inventory gaps at a specific plant but offered limited details, maintaining that the issue was being handled.

Contradicting these earlier assurances, CFO Preston Wells revealed at the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference in September that the supply shortage was not only ongoing but would likely persist into the fourth quarter. The company’s inability to meet customer demand has hindered new business acquisition, prompting Hagens Berman to examine the timeline of when Stryker leadership became aware that the manufacturing problems were more severe than originally stated. Reed Kathrein, the partner leading the firm's investigation, is now seeking information from investors and potential whistleblowers to determine if the company misled the market regarding the stability of its Peripheral Vascular operations.
