Unseenlabs Expands Orbital Fleet with Dual-Generation Launch

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on October 1, carrying two distinct satellites for Unseenlabs. The mission, part of the Transporter-18 rideshare, successfully deployed the Gen 1 nanosatellite BRO-23 and the advanced Gen 2 microsatellite BRO-32, growing the company's total constellation to 25 units.

The integration of these satellites, managed by Exolaunch, marks the first time Unseenlabs has launched two different generations of technology on a single mission. According to Craig Brower, President and CEO of Unseenlabs U.S., the deployment represents a milestone that balances the proven maritime monitoring of the Gen 1 series with the expanded operational scope provided by the Gen 2 platform.

While BRO-23 focuses on bolstering maritime signal detection—specifically identifying vessels that do not report positions via AIS—BRO-32 introduces broader capabilities. By covering the L, S, C, and X bands, the Gen 2 microsatellite enables the detection and characterization of radio frequency emitters across land, sea, and space environments. Each satellite continues to function independently through the company's monosatellite technology, allowing for a hybrid constellation that addresses both established maritime needs and new, complex monitoring requirements.
