Complex and Google Pixel Revisit a Decade of Style

Photographers Dana Scruggs, Justin French, and Campbell Addy have teamed up with Complex to document 11 years of fashion trends through the lens of the new Google Pixel 11. The resulting campaign, "Culture in Focus," serves as both a retrospective of modern style and a showcase for the smartphone's updated camera capabilities.

The project spans a distinct timeline of fashion evolution, capturing aesthetic shifts ranging from 2016's "Aggro Merch" and the rise of "Dadcore" to the "Urban Adventurer" looks of 2026. Each photographer utilized the device's professional-grade features to produce editorial-quality portraits, which will be displayed during the 10th anniversary of ComplexCon in Los Angeles on October 3 and 4. Beyond the festival grounds, the images will occupy billboard space near the LA Convention Center.

This campaign marks the second phase of a multi-year partnership that designated Google Pixel as the official device for the Complex newsroom. Since the collaboration began in 2025, the media company has shifted its production workflow entirely to the mobile platform. According to Michael Tresvant, EVP of Brand Partnerships at Complex, the move to the Pixel 11 reflects a necessity for hardware that matches the speed of real-time cultural reporting. The company reports that content captured on Pixel devices has nearly doubled quarter-over-quarter, with the editorial team now relying on the hardware to document high-stakes moments across sports, music, and art.
