Casa Launches Autonomous Home Care Service in Austin

Austin homeowners can now outsource their household maintenance to Casa, a consumer tech startup that combines artificial intelligence with an on-demand concierge team. To celebrate its local expansion, the company is bypassing its usual membership model on October 9 to provide free donation pickups for Austin Pets Alive! Thrift.

The startup, founded by former Uber and CloudKitchens executives Michael York and Michael Mizrahi, aims to remove the friction from home ownership by automating recurring tasks. The platform operates by scanning a residence to create a digital record of appliances, paint colors, and structural details. This data allows the company’s AI and concierge staff to identify maintenance needs before they escalate into costly repairs. For larger projects, the firm vets local contractors and manages the bidding process, effectively acting as a project manager for the homeowner.

For the upcoming activation, residents can schedule a pickup by Thursday, October 8, at 5:00 p.m. CT. Casa’s team will collect eligible goods—ranging from clothing to gaming consoles—directly from doorsteps the following morning. According to Derrick Ernst, Director of Retail Operations at Austin Pets Alive!, removing the logistics barrier is expected to significantly increase donation volumes, which directly support the organization’s animal rescue initiatives. Having secured $27 million in funding from investors like Forerunner Ventures, Casa is currently expanding its footprint from its initial markets in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles into the Texas capital.
