New Vehicle Alert System Aims to Prevent Hot Car Tragedies

“I wanted to create a safety system to help remind parents to remove their children from the backseat of a parked car,” said an inventor from Maringouin, Louisiana. The resulting device, dubbed BIDS, is designed to trigger an automatic alert if a child is left unattended in a vehicle.

The patent-pending invention serves as a safeguard against the risks of heatstroke by ensuring parents or grandparents are immediately notified if a child remains in the vehicle after the ignition is turned off. By drawing attention to the oversight, the system aims to prompt an immediate return to the car, providing a layer of security for busy caregivers.

Designed for ease of use, the BIDS prototype is currently being represented by InventHelp. The Pittsburgh-based firm is seeking manufacturers and marketers interested in licensing or purchasing the technology. Technical drawings and a physical model are available for review by potential partners looking to bring this safety solution to the automotive market.
