The installation is one of three on-site solar projects totaling 3.7 MW, managed by Qcells with D3Energy executing the floating component. Together, these systems are projected to generate over 6.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually—enough to power roughly 900 homes. This commitment to renewable energy helped Epic Universe secure a LEED Platinum certification under the LEED for Communities: Plan and Design framework.
Utilizing Ciel & Terre’s Hydrelio technology, the project mirrors a similar D3Energy installation completed at Universal’s main Orlando campus in 2021. Stetson Tchividjian, Managing Director of D3Energy, noted that the integration demonstrates how floating solar can maximize existing infrastructure without requiring additional land. By capturing energy during the day to charge the park's electric bus fleet overnight, Universal is creating a closed-loop system that proves how disparate clean-energy technologies can function as a unified, efficient whole.
