The acquisition integrates RL-007, a first-in-class molecule that modulates cholinergic, glutamatergic, and GABA-B receptors, into a pipeline specifically designed to address CNS disorders. While the compound missed its primary endpoint in a 242-patient Phase 2b study for schizophrenia-associated cognitive impairment, it showed promising signals in specific cognitive domains. AmyriAD plans to leverage these results by refining the drug's formulation and trial design for future applications in both schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease.
Under the agreement, Recognify’s previous backers—including atai Life Sciences, Catalio Capital Management, and the Sudhoff Family Office—have become shareholders in AmyriAD. Ranga Krishnan, Chair of the AmyriAD Board, noted that the company intends to apply insights from the Phase 2b data to a sharper clinical program. A pharmacokinetic study currently underway is slated for completion in the first half of 2027, with a Phase 2 study for mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's disease expected to follow in 2027 or 2028.
