Veterans United Home Loans Rises in Fortune Best Workplaces Ranking

For the 11th consecutive year, Columbia-based Veterans United Home Loans has secured a spot on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance list. Climbing to the 13th position for 2026, the firm stands out as one of only three Missouri companies to earn the distinction this year.

The lender, which maintains a workforce of nearly 4,900 employees across 20 states, has solidified its national standing by prioritizing a culture centered on its mission to serve military veterans. According to Department of Veterans Affairs data, the company closed over $26 billion in loans during fiscal year 2025, maintaining its decade-long streak as the country's top VA purchase lender.

Ian Franz, the company’s director of culture, attributes the consistent recognition to a collective focus on purpose rather than accolades. The selection process, managed by Great Place To Work, relies on a proprietary Trust Index survey that aggregates feedback from over 1.3 million employees nationwide. Beyond this latest honor, the company has also been featured on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For and the 2026 PEOPLE Companies that Care lists.
