Sreeraman Mohan Girija, founder of Mumbai-based Fynd, is steering his AI-native commerce firm into European markets following a decade of rapid expansion across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. The company, which recently secured an RTIH AI in Retail Award, is now targeting a 2026 launch for its London headquarters.
Starting in 2012 as an in-store tool to help shoppers locate inventory via connected screens, Fynd has evolved into a comprehensive unified commerce platform. Girija, who co-founded the business with Farooq Adam, identifies the firm’s sweet spot as brands generating between $50 million and $250 million in revenue. By offering a modular alternative to Shopify, Fynd provides end-to-end services ranging from AI-powered catalogue production to inventory integration and delivery management. The company’s trajectory accelerated following a majority stake acquisition by Reliance Brands in 2019, which provided the financial stability to weather pandemic-era disruptions and launch into the Middle East. Girija now views "agentic AI" as the next frontier, citing his new product, Kaily, as a tool designed to handle the entire customer journey through autonomous interaction. According to the founder, success in this era depends entirely on data mastery, as retailers move toward hyper-connected, IoT-driven models where machine-to-machine payments and automated supply chains become standard.
Fynd’s technology currently powers brands such as Asos, The Pant Project, and the Landmark Group. Internal metrics from recent deployments suggest significant operational gains, including 80% lower photography costs and 86% faster catalogue readiness. With plans to secure a UK office by early 2026, Girija expects international operations to contribute approximately 10% of total revenue within the coming year, marking a shift from the company's domestic origins to a global footprint.
