Genesis has officially entered the Hypercar class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, using the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe to debut its Magma GT3 Concept. The move signals a strategic shift for the luxury brand, aiming to bridge the gap between track-tested engineering and its high-performance road vehicle lineup.
The debut of the GMR-001 Hypercar marks a significant milestone for the manufacturer, which has already begun securing points in its inaugural FIA World Endurance Championship season. José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, described the endurance race as a vital proving ground for the brand’s ability to manage high-pressure environments, noting that the team is focused on translating track-side lessons into its broader business and vehicle development.Alongside the racing effort, the brand unveiled the Magma GT3 Concept and an evolved Magma GT Concept. The GT3 machine, developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport, is an independent engineering study designed to explore future performance architectures. It features a track-focused design, including a fixed rear wing and advanced thermal management, specifically built to comply with GT3 regulations. Meanwhile, the updated Magma GT Concept introduces a new interior and a twin-cockpit layout, emphasizing the brand's pivot toward a more driver-centric, luxury grand touring aesthetic. These initiatives run parallel to a major European market expansion, with Genesis targeting growth in France, Italy, and several other nations to cement its status as a global performance-driven luxury contender.
