Poo Bear and Aloe Blacc Launch Anthem for Community Action

Grammy-nominated producer Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd has released "Gotta Be Us (Be The People)," a new anthem designed to anchor a decade-long national initiative. The project aims to connect everyday Americans with grassroots problem-solving efforts, encouraging citizens to move beyond headlines and contribute directly to their own neighborhoods.

The song features a diverse lineup of artists, including Momo Boyd, Trevor Jackson, Smino, Sadie Rose Van, Luke Borchelt, and the VCU Black Awakening Choir. According to Aloe Blacc, a member of the campaign’s National Leadership Council, the track intends to spotlight the quiet, persistent work occurring in schools, community centers, and houses of worship. Blacc emphasized that the initiative seeks to validate these local acts of service as the primary drivers of national progress.

Starting June 18, the organization will launch the #BeThePeopleOpenCall, a nationwide competition inviting participants to reimagine the song through dance, visual art, spoken word, or music. Winners will receive industry mentorship and the opportunity to record their versions in Los Angeles or New York. The campaign has already gained momentum through partnerships with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the NBA, which recently mobilized over 500 volunteers to assist families affected by wildfires in California. These efforts will continue throughout the summer with local activations, including the upcoming Together Tuesday event on June 23.
