Anne Frank Center Launches Digital Initiative to Combat Online Hate

On the day that would have marked Anne Frank’s 97th birthday, the Anne Frank Center USA has launched a new social media project, @AnneFrankLifeStory, to bring Holocaust education directly to younger audiences on TikTok and Instagram, aiming to counter the spread of digital misinformation and rising antisemitism.

The initiative utilizes short-form animated videos, interactive Q&As, and educational content designed to translate the historical impact of Frank’s diary for modern digital spaces. Developed in collaboration with Luc Bernard—the creator behind the Holocaust museum project within Fortnite—the project seeks to bridge the gap as the generation of firsthand survivors diminishes. Dr. Lauren Bairnsfather, CEO of the Anne Frank Center USA, stated that moving this education to platforms where young people actively engage is essential for fostering empathy and moral courage.

Bernard noted that the project is a strategic response to the shifting landscape of digital discourse, where social media has become a primary classroom for history. By creating a credible, accessible destination for students, the organization hopes to turn passive awareness into active resistance against intolerance. The project originated from the Eradicate Hate Global Summit and currently operates as part of the center’s broader efforts to reach students across the United States. While the organization continues to fundraise for the initiative, the effort marks a significant pivot toward decentralized, digital-first education to ensure the legacy of the Holocaust remains relevant to new generations.
