Managing a sprawling civilization in Ara: History Untold just became less of a chore. Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games have released the v2.1 update, introducing a National Crafting Policy System designed to shift the player's role from micromanaging workshops to setting high-level strategic directives for their entire empire.
The update directly responds to the most frequent player critique since the game's launch: the time-consuming nature of overseeing production chains as an empire expands. By implementing a centralized policy system, players can now establish universal crafting priorities that every city follows automatically. For those who prefer tactical precision, the Improvement Panel features a new three-mode dropdown, allowing users to override national policy for specific locations at any time. As Stardock CEO Brad Wardell noted, the goal is to let players think like rulers rather than foremen.Beyond production management, the update enriches the game’s cultural and religious systems. Players now have access to 27 new Culture Traits spanning all six domains, alongside seven additional religious verses that offer more ways to define a civilization's identity. The patch also introduces mechanical refinements, including faster worker accumulation as cities level up and adjusted AI settlement patterns. Technical stability has been addressed through CPU optimizations, terrain rendering fixes, and improved UI responsiveness, ensuring a smoother experience in the late-game stages.
