We navigate our lives through internal narratives, often mistaking personal interpretations for objective reality. On June 18, New York Times best-selling author Katherine Center joins Unlikely Collaborators at their Santa Monica headquarters for a Spark Salon to examine how the stories we construct ultimately dictate our sense of identity and possibility.
Known for novels such as The Bodyguard and Happiness for Beginners, Center builds her career on the mechanics of resilience and human transformation. During the upcoming session, she will bridge the gap between creative fiction and psychological reality, exploring how internal dialogue and memory shape the way individuals organize their experiences into meaning. The discussion centers on the Perception Box framework, which posits that recognizing these narratives as flexible interpretations rather than fixed truths allows for greater emotional agility.Center will draw from her own creative process and published works to illustrate how vulnerability and ambition are filtered through the lens of one’s personal history. The event encourages attendees to audit their own unconscious assumptions and inherited beliefs, aiming to create space for connection and change. The program begins at 7:00 p.m. PT in Santa Monica and will be simultaneously livestreamed for remote audiences. While admission is free, registration is required for both in-person and virtual attendance.
