FallTech Debuts CTR Class 1 SRL to Streamline Overhead Safety

Moving energy management outside the device housing, FallTech’s new CTR Class 1 self-retracting lifeline sheds internal mechanical complexity to prioritize mobility. Designed for overhead anchorage, the unit aims to minimize nuisance lockups for workers navigating ladder climbs, facility maintenance, and general industrial environments where agility is a critical safety factor.

Moving energy management outside the device housing, FallTech’s new CTR Class 1 self-retracting lifeline sheds internal mechanical complexity to prioritize mobility. Designed for overhead anchorage, the unit aims to minimize nuisance lockups for workers navigating ladder climbs, facility maintenance, and general industrial environments where agility is a critical safety factor.

The CTR series distinguishes itself from traditional models by utilizing an external Armored Energy Absorber. By shifting the braking mechanism to the exterior, engineers created a lighter, more compact profile capable of sustaining natural walking speeds during typical jobsite tasks. The external shell serves a dual purpose, shielding vital internal components from abrasion, moisture, and impact damage without compromising the required fall clearance.

Zack Winters, Director of Product and Applied Engineering at FallTech, noted that the device was built specifically to address the mobility demands of overhead anchorage. The product line is available in 20-, 30-, and 60-foot lengths, all equipped with 3/16-inch galvanized steel cable. Capable of supporting users up to 310 pounds, the equipment meets both ANSI standards and OSHA safety requirements, targeting high-stakes sectors ranging from oil and gas turnarounds to vertical access systems.
