At FlightSimExpo 2026 in St. Paul, gaming accessory giant PowerA and simulation hardware specialist Meridian GMT revealed a strategic partnership centered on the Project X-Ray Flight Deck Wireless Controller. The device aims to bridge the gap between complex cockpit setups and accessible console gaming for PC and Xbox users.

The Project X-Ray system utilizes a modular design, allowing users to swap throttles, flaps, and faceplates to mimic the control schemes of various aircraft and helicopters. By integrating these flight-specific inputs into a handheld controller form factor, the companies intend to provide a more immersive experience for simmers without requiring a permanent, space-consuming cockpit build.

This collaboration serves as the debut for the "Fueled by PowerA" initiative, a corporate strategy focused on scaling niche hardware innovations for a global market. Matt Hiler, Senior Director of Marketing at PowerA, noted that the partnership leverages Meridian GMT’s specialized aviation expertise alongside PowerA’s established manufacturing reach. Meridian GMT founder Nicki Repenning emphasized that the project is designed to satisfy enthusiasts who prioritize authentic control dynamics while maintaining an approachable entry point for broader gaming audiences. While the companies have confirmed the controller will support PC and Xbox Series X|S, specific details regarding pricing, retail availability, and final launch dates remain under wraps.
