A piercing gaze and a promise of vengeance define the first character reveal for the upcoming anime adaptation of Kagurabachi. As the Weekly Shonen Jump hit surpasses 4 million copies in circulation, the production team has unveiled the official visual and trailer for protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira, signaling the start of his dark journey.
The adaptation of Takeru Hokazono’s sword-action series is being helmed by studio Cypic, a CyberAgent subsidiary. Director Tetsuya Takeuchi, known for his work on Sword Art Online II, leads a team that includes character designer Keigo Sasaki. The protagonist will be voiced by Taihi Kimura, who recently earned the Best New Actor award at the 2025 Seiyu Awards. In the new trailer, Chihiro is depicted with his signature black goldfish and a jet-black coat, embodying his grim mission to recover six stolen Enchanted Blades from the Hishaku organization.Beyond the character reveal, the production is launching a global promotional tour. Starting July 3, 2026, at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, the tour will feature 20-minute screenings of the first episode across major international events, including Japan Expo in Paris, AnimagiC in Mannheim, and Anime NYC. The series is currently slated for a broadcast and streaming premiere in April 2027.
