Previously, tenant-to-tenant migrations forced IT professionals to juggle manual user lists and separate identity management software, often leading to mid-migration errors. By shifting the focus to identity-first planning, the new tool allows users to map accounts, security groups, and Microsoft 365 memberships before the migration begins. This visibility ensures that permissions and content remain intact during transitions, preventing the common "cutover" surprises that often plague large-scale cloud projects.
Richard Harbridge, Principal Industry Advisor at ShareGate, noted that resolving identity conflicts during the planning phase is the primary difference between a controlled migration and a chaotic one. Early adopters, including architects at SoftwareOne and Kite Technology Group, reported that the platform significantly reduced the risk of permission errors and dependency failures. The company plans to introduce further automation later this year, including bulk identity updates and automated post-migration onboarding, as it moves toward a fully end-to-end migration experience.
