XREAL Unveils AURA: A New Contender in the Android XR Space

XREAL has officially pulled the curtain back on XREAL AURA, a pair of lightweight optical see-through spatial computing glasses built on the Android XR platform. Designed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the device leverages the Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset to bring a new tier of AI-integrated immersion to the wearable market.

The hardware, which weighs under 95 grams, features a 70-degree field of view and utilizes a dual-chip architecture to manage spatial display and sensor processing locally. By integrating Google’s Gemini AI and the Android XR ecosystem, the device aims to bridge the gap between traditional mobile applications and mixed reality environments. XREAL is positioning the product as a versatile tool, with early software partners ranging from immersive entertainment experiences like 'Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars' to professional productivity suites such as ShapesXR and medical visualization tools from apoQlar.

XREAL has opened reservation pathways today for customers in the U.S., U.K., and Japan, with a formal launch slated for this fall. The company is offering a $99 launch credit program for early sign-ups and a limited 'Founder Priority Pass' for those seeking day-one delivery. Following the initial rollout, XREAL plans to expand availability into a broad range of European markets. The glasses are making their public debut this week at the Augmented World Expo in Long Beach, California.
