David Hammarwall to Lead Ericsson Business Area Networks

David Hammarwall will step into the role of Head of Business Area Networks at Ericsson starting October 1, 2026. A veteran within the company since 2007, Hammarwall moves from his current position overseeing the T-Mobile customer unit in the Americas to join the firm’s executive leadership team in Stockholm.

Hammarwall succeeds Per Narvinger, who is transitioning to the role of Ericsson’s President and CEO. During his tenure with the firm, Hammarwall has steered key initiatives including Product Area Networks and the 5G Radio Access Network division. He holds a PhD in telecommunications from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology. CEO Börje Ekholm cited Hammarwall’s blend of technical expertise and commercial industry knowledge as critical for the company’s ongoing focus on 5G, artificial intelligence, and the development of 6G standards. In his new capacity, Hammarwall will focus on integrating advanced AI capabilities into radio access networks to provide enhanced value for global service providers.
