Christine Begin Nickell, the singer’s mother, posted a childhood photograph of her son to Facebook this week, offering a poignant farewell. “Our dear son Oliver, you made this world a better place. We are so proud of you,” she wrote. The crash, which occurred early Sunday, also claimed the lives of five others, including YouTube personality Gaspar “Gaspi” Prim and director Lucas Vignale.
Fiona Chernavskaya, Tree’s longtime partner, has navigated the loss by sharing glimpses of their life together across 43 countries. Addressing online gossip regarding his personal life, Chernavskaya insisted on the integrity of their monogamous relationship, asking for privacy during her mourning. She recounted a recurring promise Tree made during their private disagreements: that if they could not find their way in this lifetime, he would seek her out in the next.
Professionally, Tree remained active until his final performance in São Paulo on June 6. In a candid April interview on The Zach Sang Show, he discussed his unconventional approach to his estate, revealing that his will excludes his future family from inheriting his wealth. Instead, he established Dr. Oliver Tree’s Art Grants for Baby Geniuses, a foundation designed to redirect his royalties back into the creative community. Reflecting on his own career, Tree noted a grim irony regarding artistic legacy: “People will finally appreciate my stupid videos, my f*cking stupid songs—that’s when people appreciate you when you’re not there anymore.”
