BARBRI Acquires Lega to Scale Experiential AI Training for Lawyers

Dallas-based legal education leader BARBRI has acquired Lega, a platform specializing in hands-on artificial intelligence workshops and lab-based training. The move signals a shift in the legal sector from theoretical AI discussions toward building practical, real-world fluency for students, law firms, and seasoned practitioners across the globe.

The legal profession is currently navigating a period of significant disruption, where simple exposure to new software is no longer sufficient. By integrating Lega’s model—which includes generative AI labs, hackathons, and simulations—BARBRI aims to move beyond basic courseware into active, experiential learning. This approach has already gained traction with major industry players, including an award-winning collaborative project with the firm Fasken that focused on solving complex legal use cases.

Lucie Allen, Co-CEO of BARBRI, stated that the acquisition is intended to bridge the gap between AI awareness and actual professional capability. Lega founder Christian Lang will join BARBRI as Head of Innovation to oversee the scaling of these programs. The company plans to embed Lega’s interactive tools into its existing product suite, which already serves millions of learners. While financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the deal positions BARBRI to standardize AI-driven skill development across both law schools and major international practices.
