Cirulis joins the Dublin-based chain from Potbelly Sandwich Works, where he previously worked alongside Wendy’s current CEO, Bob Wright. During their prior collaboration, the pair oversaw a period of significant expansion, marked by a 500% surge in share price and improved unit volumes. Wright expects this track record of financial discipline to translate directly to Wendy’s, where Cirulis will manage strategy, risk, and analytics while reporting directly to the CEO.
He succeeds Ken Cook, who has held the CFO position since 2024. Cook will remain with the company through July to assist in the transition. Chairman of the Board Art Winkleblack credited Cook with guiding the brand through the initial stages of its 'Project Fresh' strategy and serving as interim CEO during a volatile period. Cirulis brings an extensive resume that includes senior roles at McDonald’s, Panera Bread, and Gap, Inc., positioning him as a central figure in Wright’s plan to drive franchisee profitability and shareholder value.
