Super Girl Surf Festival Expands to Virginia Beach for Labor Day

More than 100,000 attendees are expected to descend on the Virginia Beach oceanfront this Labor Day weekend as the Super Girl Surf Festival makes its Mid-Atlantic debut. The three-day event, running September 5–7, 2026, combines a high-stakes professional surfing competition with a sprawling showcase of music, sports, and lifestyle programming.

The festival, which anchors its athletic schedule with a World Surf League QS4000 qualifying event, will transform the stretch between the 1st Street Jetty and the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. Organizers expect over 5,000 female athletes to compete across 14 disciplines, including skateboarding, beach volleyball, BMX, and flag football. ASA Entertainment CEO Rick Bratman described the expansion as a key milestone in the series' 20-year history, aimed at building a platform that unites elite competition with broader community engagement.

Musical performances will complement the athletic schedule, featuring headliners such as Switchfoot, Lupe Fiasco, and Gym Class Heroes alongside a robust roster of female artists. While the event is free to the public, attendees must register online for concert access, with VIP packages available for those seeking premium viewing and amenities. Mayor Robert Dyer noted that the city anticipates the festival becoming a recurring fixture, emphasizing its role in celebrating women’s athletics. Live coverage of the surfing competition will be broadcast across digital platforms, with televised segments scheduled for airing between December and March.
