Shields joins the program alongside long-time series contributor Sheldon Yellen, the CEO of BELFOR Property Restoration. Yellen, a veteran advocate for first responders, will continue to provide technical context for the rescue stories featured on the show, often participating in training demonstrations that illustrate the physical dangers inherent in emergency operations. The partnership seeks to maintain the series’ focus on extreme survival stories and emotional reunions.
Since its inception, Hearts of Heroes has profiled over 750 rescuers, including firefighters, police officers, and military personnel, across nearly 220 distinct segments. The production has earned a Daytime Emmy nomination and 63 Telly Awards for its educational approach to disaster response. The upcoming season will remain a staple of the Weekend Adventure programming block on ABC, though viewers are encouraged to check local listings for specific air times.
