National Resident Matching Program Appoints Five New Board Members

The National Resident Matching Program has added five new professionals to its 20-member Board of Directors, bringing fresh academic and clinical perspectives to the organization. The appointees, whose terms begin July 1, include a mix of rising medical students, resident physicians, and seasoned educators in medical school leadership.

Natasha Bray, Chair of the NRMP Board, noted that these new members will provide essential energy and thought leadership as the organization continues to manage the complex transition to residency. The incoming class includes Humza Ahmed of the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and Jason Collins of Northeast Ohio Medical University, both of whom bring backgrounds in finance and healthcare analytics. They are joined by Dr. Nicholas Leighton, a USC resident and former 'Intern of the Year,' alongside two veteran medical educators: Dr. Steven D. Pletcher of UCSF, a pioneer in preference signaling for residency applications, and Dr. Marcy L. Verduin, the senior associate dean for medical education at the University of Central Florida.

These appointments follow the departure of five outgoing members, including E. Sander Connolly, Kathy Lazarus, Dakota Marshall, Sujay Ratna, and Acacia Williams, whose terms conclude on June 30. NRMP President and CEO Donna L. Lamb expressed confidence that the new cohort will leverage their diverse skills to support the organization's mission of matching applicants with residency and fellowship positions nationwide.
