Abbisko Therapeutics Secures $1.9 Billion Deal with Eli Lilly

Under the terms of the new agreement, Abbisko will deploy its proprietary early-stage drug discovery platform and R&D ecosystem to target specific diseases selected by the pharmaceutical giant. Beyond the initial upfront payment, the structure includes development, regulatory, and commercial milestone payments, alongside tiered royalties based on future global net sales.

This deal builds on a 2022 framework, where the companies first partnered on a small-molecule therapeutic. By integrating Abbisko’s specialized research capabilities with Lilly’s global development infrastructure, the firms aim to accelerate the transition of laboratory discoveries into clinical treatments. For the Shanghai-based biotech, the agreement reinforces its strategy to scale its pipeline within the precision oncology and immuno-oncology sectors.
