WHSmith is upgrading its UK travel retail estate with electronic shelf labels, beginning with high-traffic flagship stores at Heathrow Airport. By deploying SOLUM’s Newton PRO technology, the retailer aims to refine price accuracy and staff productivity within the fast-paced environments of major airports and railway stations.

Retail Director Heidi Reynolds stated that the move supports a more intuitive customer experience, allowing staff to focus on service rather than manual shelf maintenance. The Newton PRO units are specifically engineered for the high-frequency demands of transport hubs, where speed and visual clarity remain critical for travelers.

Mark Duckworth, SOLUM’s UK and Ireland Country Manager, noted that this deployment marks a significant expansion for the company within the British travel retail sector.
