SeAH Besteel Targets Aerospace Growth With New Texas Superalloy Plant

Conflict lead: While traditional steel markets remain saturated, Korea's SeAH Besteel Holdings is pivoting aggressively into the high-stakes aerospace sector. By constructing a 6,000-ton capacity superalloy facility in Temple, Texas, the company intends to bypass global supply bottlenecks and secure a foothold in the North American aerospace supply chain.

The Texas facility, operated by subsidiary SeAH Superalloy Technologies, is scheduled to begin production in late 2026. Situated within a central aerospace manufacturing corridor, the 45-acre site will produce master alloys and nickel-based additive manufacturing powders. These materials are currently in high demand for advanced investment casting and next-generation aerospace components. The move follows a broader corporate strategy to transition from a specialized steel producer into a high-value materials platform.

SeAH is backing this expansion with a track record of international certifications. Affiliates such as SeAH Aerospace & Defense already supply aluminum components to Boeing, Airbus, and Lockheed Martin, supported by a long-term agreement with Boeing. By localizing production in the U.S., the company expects to capitalize on domestic reshoring initiatives and favorable industrial energy costs provided by the City of Temple and the Temple Economic Development Corporation. This proximity allows for faster technical collaboration with North American partners, distancing the firm from the logistical constraints of long-distance shipping.
