His background also includes nine years at athenahealth, where he held various senior commercial and corporate development roles. He arrives at a critical juncture for the organization, which currently serves more than 2,900 ambulatory surgery centers across the United States.
Stampiglia, who departs the CEO post after a period of significant growth for the firm, emphasized that the leadership change is intended to bolster the company’s push into AI-driven workflows and revenue cycle automation. As surgical procedures increasingly shift toward outpatient settings, SIS aims to scale its unified platform to manage the rising clinical and financial complexity faced by its providers. O'Brien plans to focus on deploying agentic workflows designed to simplify administrative burdens and enhance operational efficiency within surgical environments.
