Starship delivery robots pivot to higher education marketing in MK

The familiar sight of autonomous robots navigating Milton Keynes streets is taking on a new purpose as Starship Technologies partners with Milton Keynes College. The six-wheeled delivery units now serve as mobile billboards, sporting custom artwork to promote local university-level courses directly to residents' doorsteps.

The campaign targets individuals weighing career changes or those seeking local alternatives to traditional university paths following Level 3 studies. The college’s promotional display features a bird’s-eye view of the city’s iconic roundabout network, aiming to connect with the local community through recognizable geography.

Laura Black, Group Director for the Milton Keynes College Group, noted that the initiative highlights accessible options like Open University-validated degrees, higher-level apprenticeships, and HNC/HND programs. By leveraging the existing robot fleet, the college hopes to emphasize the benefits of expert instruction and reduced fees compared to conventional institutions. Lisa Johnson, Vice President for Starship Technologies, described the partnership as a natural fit for their UK home base, noting that the robots’ new aesthetic adds a distinct flair to their daily delivery routes.
