The capital injection aims to transition working landscapes away from decades of extractive management toward regenerative practices. Alder Point utilizes these funds to acquire properties and implement site-specific improvements, such as cover-cropping, rotational grazing, and selective forest harvesting. According to the foundation, these changes are intended to mitigate climate vulnerability while increasing the long-term productivity of rural assets.
Ghita Benabderrazik, Managing Director of Innovative Finance at The Rockefeller Foundation, noted that the investment serves as a cornerstone of the foundation’s broader "Big Bet on Good Jobs for America" initiative. By fostering resilient, resource-based economies, the project aligns environmental outcomes with job creation in distressed regions. Jessamine Fitzpatrick, Co-Founder of Alder Point, emphasized that the ecological and economic goals are inseparable; healthier watersheds and soils directly translate to more reliable livelihoods for the operators managing the land.
