He argues that the network took the show for granted precisely because it was such a reliable anchor for Friday nights. For the actor, the transition away from the role of Police Commissioner Frank Reagan has been jarring, leaving him struggling to adjust to a life without the routine that defined his schedule for 14 years. While CBS executives have publicly praised the series as a "beloved" part of their legacy, Selleck remains unconvinced that the cancellation was a necessary or logical move for the network.
