Entropy Inc. Launches Glacier Phase 2 Carbon Capture Project

The project centers on a new 15 MW Solar T130 turbine equipped with post-combustion capture technology, alongside reciprocating engines driving compression at the Glacier Gas Plant. By targeting removal rates exceeding 90%, the company is supplying low-carbon electricity to site operations while exporting surplus power to the Alberta Electric System Operator grid. Entropy currently holds a 15-year purchase agreement with parent company Advantage Energy Ltd. for 6 MW of power at $85 per megawatt-hour.

While the project reached completion without serious incidents, the company highlighted significant administrative friction regarding government incentives. Entropy has invested over $250 million in Canadian projects, yet the Federal Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Investment Tax Credit and the Alberta counterpart have faced lengthy review delays. According to leadership, these bottlenecks increase financing costs and create uncertainty for future industry investments. Entropy plans to begin publishing verified performance data in the coming months via its proprietary EntropyIQ accounting system.
