Bidbus Secures $15 Million to Disrupt Traditional Vehicle Trade-ins

Irvine-based automotive marketplace Bidbus has closed a $15 million Series A funding round to scale its live auction platform. Led by Ibex Investors, the capital injection aims to accelerate the company’s expansion beyond its current California and Texas strongholds while refining the technology used to connect individual sellers with licensed dealerships.

The platform functions as a competitive alternative to standard trade-in models. Instead of accepting a single instant-buy offer, sellers conduct guided virtual inspections, allowing dealerships to bid on vehicles in real time. This approach has already facilitated over 10,000 transactions, pushing the company to an annualized gross merchandise value of approximately $300 million. Over the past year, the business has seen its volume grow sevenfold.

CEO Duke Yan intends to use the new funds to transition the company from a founder-led setup toward a more scalable, technology-driven infrastructure. Investment will be directed toward improving AI-powered communication tools, refining virtual condition reporting, and expanding the internal operations team. By automating workflows and strengthening dealer participation, Bidbus aims to capture a larger share of the 39 million used vehicles sold annually in the United States, replacing fragmented acquisition channels with a transparent, localized marketplace.
